A Gathering Place

Nexus Coffee & Creative all started on a napkin back in the Fall of 2016. Amy Counce, co-founder of Nexus was sitting across the cafe table from her father, Matt. She knew at the time she wanted to create a gathering place for the community. The "why" was to be creative and community focused while the "how" was with coffee. A nexus means a connecting point or central place.

As the village began to form, everything began to set into motion. While looking downtown, she walked up to a space in the heart of the city at 301 President Clinton Avenue, and it felt like home immediately. Nexus Coffee & Creative as the cafe officially opened their doors in July of 2017. With the emblem of a Lighthouse and the motto “Be the Light” the cafe strive to be a safe, inviting and creative space for all.

In its over 8 years of existence, the Nexus reach has spread far and wide! Nexus has expanded the main shop by another 2,000 square feet, offering local retail goods, live music performances, and a creative hub for all.

Nexus also began roasting its own coffee beans in the summer of 2021, offering a variety of roasts from a variety of countries. Nexus Coffee Roasters was born to be a bridge to our farmers abroad through fair trade, organic and sustainability practices. Letting the motto spread light both locally and globally.

“We feel so grateful to be a Lighthouse in the downtown Rivermarket community of Little Rock We see how the worlds of coffee and creative come together in an authentic and unique way. Our opportunity to extend light and kindness by way of coffee is the foundation in all we do.” - Amy Counce, co-founder of Nexus.
